A sud di Salerno e della Costiera Amalfitana, il Cilento è una zona ricca di storia e cultura che inizia da Paestum e finisce a Capo Palinuro. Il territorio offre una notevole varietà di paesaggi e la possibilità di godere della natura incontaminata del Parco nazionale del Cilento e del Vallo di Diano dichiarato dall’Unesco Riserva di Biosfera e Patrimonio dell’Umanità. Dietro questi riconoscimenti si nasconde un magico lembo di terra in cui si realizza l’incontro tra mare e montagna, spiagge e boschi, e che reca i segni di una storia di lunga durata, testimoniata dalle antiche città di Poseidonia/Paestum e di Elea/Velia, dai borghi medioevali arroccati sulle colline e collegati da una fitta trama di percorsi. La costiera, grazie alla bellezza dei suoi fondali, alle lunghe spiagge, alle splendide insenature ed ai profumi della macchia mediterranea, rappresenta una delle principali attrattive del territorio a cui si accompagnano le colline e le montagne del Cilento più interno come la catena dei Monti Alburni.

Situated south of Sorrento and Amalfi Coast, Cilento is a land rich in history and culture stretching out from Paestum as far as Palinuro Cape. The territory, with its deep and strong contrasts, offers a grand variety of landscapes and the possibility to enjoy an uncontaminated nature which has been included into the MAB (Man and Biosphere) Reserve Program and on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. Cilento is a marvellous combination of sea and mountains, beaches and woods reflecting a long and rich history testified by the greek and roman cities Poseidonia/ Paestum and Elea/ Velia, the medieval hamlets nestled on the hills and a thick net of trails. The coast, with its fascinating and mysterious seabed, long sandy beaches, majestic gorges and coves as well as the flavours of the Mediterranean maquis, represents one of the main attractions; still, it is enhanced by its proximity with inland mountains such as the Alburni chain.
